In the event that of a major epidemic we must prepare to get along in our homes for upto 6 weeks, in case our area is put under quarantine.  Electricity and water may fail because the people who work at these facilities may not come to work, preferring to stay in their homes and not venture out.

Food supplies and other goods may become scarce (truck drivers may stay at their homes). The same supplies and plans that are done for a hurricane also make sense in case of an epidemic that becomes dangerous in some way.  Plan now and listen to your local authorities.  Plan for at least 6 weeks.  Most of the supplies that you will need are here.  Take advantage of them.

Hurricanes

Hurricanes......to .those of us that live on the seashore they are a very scary prediction.  We experienced Hurricane Hugo first hand in the area that we live and believe us, it was something we would all like to never experience again.  

During this time of Hugo, we learned a lot about what to expect and what to experience and see during and in the aftermath of the storm.  This year, 2005, the storms in Louisiana and Mississippi brought all these memories back to the surface again.  We sent all the money we could afford to help the ones who had lost everything.  

Then it occurred to us that we should add this web page, Hurricane Supplies, to our web site and perhaps help someone to know what will happen and what to expect when a hurricane arrives in your community.   Our hope is that you will find this site helpful and comforting in the planning of your preparations.

Keeping your hurricane supplies updated and handy each year should be a ritual.  Be sure you go through your supplies each year and remove any and all that have exceeded their expiration dates.

Terrorism

We are at war.  Therefore, I urge everyone to prepare for a National Emergency in case we are again the target of Terrorism here in our home towns.  The same preparations that make sense for a Hurricane make sense in case we suffer a major attack.
